Early Dorris Jr. III: “I’m a Giver”
Early smiles on the job
In June 2023, Corner Shower and Laundry welcomed Early Dorris III onto our staff team.
Early is a born-and-raised Detroiter from the West side of the city. He loves playing basketball and describes music as his passion. Outside of his work hours, you can catch him attending his 6-year-old son's sports games and supporting his community. When asked about his commitment to service, Early said: “I come from a caring background. I'm a giver. We all have our growing pains, but I just try to do the right thing."
So far he says he loves working at Corner Shower and Laundry and getting to know so many people in the community. He shared:
"I speak to everybody. I like the humble community within itself. The guests that come, they just want to be respected, because everybody’s lacking in love. Everybody wants some kind of love."
Early expressed gratitude for the Corner Shower and Laundry mission and all who support the organization:
"We can’t imagine what these people have been through… Some people who come here don't have anything, and it takes a village to help try to build people’s self esteem back up. So you gotta have hope. It’s a beautiful thing for anybody when you have a place to shower and get yourself a meal."
